Fun at Forest Greens Today!

A BIG THANK YOU to Anita Gardner and Ingrid Tomasek for organizing an awesome, 24 person, shotgun outing!  Their great organization was appreciated by all!  We started right on time at 9 a.m. this morning, each with a ‘Tomasek’ crafted treat bag stocked with assorted goodies such as tees, crackers, chips, candy, and granola bar.

Below is a news flash just released by Anita and Ingrid that sums up the day nicely:

The Forest Greens outing was a fun relaxing day of golf, especially with score keeping an option and the rules books left at home!

Longest Drive was won by Kathi Pierce, a new member we are happy to have on board this year.  Kathi won a free round of golf for her next visit to Forest Greens.

Closest to the Pin was won by Pat Walker with a distance of 31’1″.  Many of us never had a drive reach the green so this was impressive.  Pat also won a round of golf for her next visit to Forest Greens.

Tom Coffman, General Manager at Forest Greens gave all participants a “Two for One Green Fee” card valid Monday-Thursday, anytime and Friday-Sunday, after 12:00 pm.  The expiration date is 9/30/2013 so we will be able to get out there again in the next few months for another great round of golf.

Jung Kim brought slices of watermelon bagged for each cart that everyone was able to enjoy throughout the day.  We appreciate her thoughtfulness, especially since the temperature reached 94 and felt like 103!

It was a great day of golf at Forest Greens and we hope to see you all at the next GWGA outing at Fort Belvoir, July 3, being organized by Pat Walker.

Tee Time Sign-Up Change Next Week

Hello golfers,  several changes will be taking place next week:

Sign-Ups:  All future Tee Time sign-ups (beginning with the sign-up for Thu May 30) will be sent out each week on Sunday evening about 5 p.m.   Purpose is to reduce the number of cancellations we are receiving.   When you sign-up not only are you holding a slot someone else may want, but your cancellation may generate other issues for your fellow golfers. It creates incomplete foursomes that must be fixed by the tournament chair prior to play, for example rearrangements so a golfer is not left to play alone,  or a twosome or threesome that will have to spend a lot of time waiting during play.

Winners:  You can find the winners on the web page anytime after Friday of each week.   Please simply go there and look each week, anytime after Friday, if you wish to see the winners.   The email with the link will no longer be sent.

Monthly Reports:  You can find current Handicaps, Flights, Attendance and Ringer reports on the web page at any time.  The reports are updated after the first of the month each month.   The link will not be emailed out to you, just go there and look at it.

Partial Scores:  Please DO NOT INPUT PARTIAL SCORES into the laptop.  For partial scores, enter ONLY THE NAME of the golfer.  Participation credit will be giving if the NAME is entered.     Golfers must complete all 18 holes to be eligible to win.  Entering partial scores can result in birdie and chip-in wins for people are NOT ELIGIBLE to win.  This results in EXTRA WORK for closers to find the partial score inputs and correct them.  And if the closers don’t find and correct it, then I have to remove names from reports before I can post winners.

Thanks everyone!!!

Sally

Access to Tee Time Sign-Up Restricted on Wednesdays

Golfers,  deadline for online sign up for tee times, including making any edit or change to your tee time is Tuesday evening.  After Tuesday you will not be able to go online and access the sign-up.  If you try to access it, the sign up genius will tell you that an “Access Code is Required”.   Your password will not work in the access code slot.   If you need to make a change or cancel or have questions you need to call Lucinda at 703/317-0487 (home) and leave her a voice message if she does not answer.  Please follow the procedures provided to you at the spring meeting and posted on our web page.  If you wish to review those procedures Click here.

The reason for this restriction is that all activity on the sign up must stop so Lucinda has time to prepare for Thursday.  She must review it, make realignments to satisfy Greendale pace of play rules (this may involve contacting golfers to change their times), print the list and get it to Greendale.
