Spring Meeting Highlights

If you missed the Spring meeting, you missed a lot of league news and fun! Here are a few highlights, including a few dates for your calendar.

Sign up for an overnight trip to Shenvalee Golf resort, June 24,25,26, will be coming soon. See details here.

Tee time signups on Leaderboard will open every Sunday night at 7pm (starts Sunday Mar 24) and NEW this year: CLOSE on Monday night. Our Tournament Chair shared info about Leaderboard updates. Prior members will notice that things have moved around in leaderboard. Many more details are provided in your email from our Tournament Chair!

Our Membership Chair welcomed 10 new members! You may notice when you sign up for tee times the first few weeks that mentors and mentees will be pre-loaded. Mentors are coordinating with our Tournament Chair to line up times they can play with their mentees. For more information about our new members, see your email from our Membership Chair.

The golf swap was a huge success. Lots of nice golf shirts, shorts, skorts, vests, jackets and golf shoes were taken home and we donated a lot to The First Tee program. Thanks to all, I think everyone got to take home something useful!

Revised Bylaws were passed and will be posted soon. The goal was to move procedural details to the Member Handbook so the Bylaws would no longer need continual revisions.

Thanks to all the Board Members for a great, informative meeting. Kathi Pierce, Carey Durham, Anne Turcol, Sue Edwards and Ann Mcclung all shared details of their plans for the league this season. You will be hearing more from them. Stay tuned. Thank you also to the many volunteers who helped with the swap and at the registration table.

2023 GWGA Awards and 2024 News!

GWGA golfers, the GWGA luncheon at Laurel Hill Golf Course, was a terrific luncheon.  There were door prizes galore, election of new Board for 2024 and the food was yummy.

Big thanks to Kathi, the Board and the luncheon organizers, Carey, Wanda and Gary.  Many of your fellow golfers worked to make the luncheon a success.  Some of you donated door prizes or solicited rounds of golf at other courses. We thank those who supplied door prizes or helped with this event.

Thank you Margaret and Sue for all the work you did this year compiling scores, preparing the envelopes of money and presenting the awards!  Thank you also to those who took turns closing out the day on Thursdays following golf each week.

Golf Scores from the championship rounds are now visible in Leaderboard. Login, scroll down and click on “Results”; then scroll down to find “championship”; then click “Go” and you can see all the scores for each round, gross and net results.

Fall business meeting minutes (password protected) are posted on our website here

A GWGA holiday party will be December 14 at Carey Durham’s home, watch for an email Sign Up with details. Set aside late morning and early afternoon on your calendar to enjoy soup and other goodies followed by the white elephant game.

2024 Dues – your membership renewals are currently due. Many of you paid at the Fall luncheon. Further info on how to pay may be found on our website here.

The 2024 Volunteer Sign-up sheets will be available again at the holiday party and the list can be found in the Member only part of the website, click here. Everyone is expected to to sign up to help our league. There are at least 60 assorted tasks, many are not at all difficult so don’t be shy, please help!

2024 GWGA Golf Swap: Sue Edwards will be organizing a Golf Swap at our Spring 2024 meeting. Items donated must be in clean and good condition. NO golf clubs, please. At the Spring meeting, items will be placed on tables. Everyone who contributes will be given the opportunity to go through the line and pick one item, and once everyone has done so, members may go back and take whatever else remains. No money will exchange hands as it is a swap. Items remaining may be reclaimed by the owner or be donated to First Tee. So keep the Swap in mind as you clean out your closets and garage this winter and spring. If you can help with the swap, please contact Sue.

Congratulations to new and continuing Board Members, listed here.
